If I needed a reason to donate … this would be it #DonorDiaries

After blogging about the injections yesterday and what the next steps were in my donation process, I received this message on Facebook. She asked me to keep her identity anonymous, but was happy for me to share her words …

I saw your post today about being an egg donor and wanted to just send a mail to say I admire what you are doing and I thank you. My story is from the other side. I received news yesterday that after trying for a year and a half they have discovered I dont have many eggs and natural conception will be very unlikely. We might possibly have some luck with IVF but they are not sure how many eggs they will be able to harvest.

Thus my only other option is egg donation.

A scary road lies ahead.

But my dream is to have a child and it’s because of people like you that I might get that dream.

THANK YOU for doing what you are doing.

I was beside myself. Grateful that she had shared her plight with me. Proud of myself for signing up and for committing to help someone’s dream come true.

If your’e considering becoming a donor but you’re still not 100% sure, read her words again. Know that you could change someone’s life with just a slight inconvenience out of your own.

  1. Hi Nicki, I am also on the flipside of the coin, having to use a donor now. We found THE most amazing donor through Nurture! Mandy Rodrigues also said that she is really a top class donor. We are very excited about the treatment and the increased chances of success. She even agreed to delay the process a bit as Dr Rod is on holiday for most of August and I refuse to go to another doctor. He luckily understood as well and told the co-ordinator to arrange so that he takes care of us. There are so many angels involved in this process – the donor, the doctor, the phsycologist, the donor agency, all the staff at Medfem….. I thank God everyday for giving these people the ability to help people like us to also have a family! Thank you to you to – you are one of those angels! xx
