A couple of weeks ago, the Health features editor at Fairlady Magazine got hold of me, regarding a post I had done for Tanya’s Rattle & Mum.

She commented on my honest account of my experience with post-natal depression and she asked if I’d be keen to share my story with the readers of Fairlady.

Without hesitation, I agreed to be involved. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt as a mom who suffered from PND, it’s that (as that big fekking purple dinosaur would say) sharing is caring. Talking about my depression with other moms made me realize that I wasn’t alone and that there was nothing wrong with me for feeling that way. I didn’t love my kids any less … I wasn’t any less of a mother.

So, I jumped at the opportunity and was thrilled to find out, a couple of days before the shoot with the awesome Joe Spies, that Sharon would also be there. In the September issue of Fairlady, Sharon is courageous enough to share intimate details of her and her husband’s relationship struggles during their battle with infertility.

The third contributor was none other than Manisha Naidu, of MasterChef SA fame and I was star-struck, to say the least! It was fantastic to meet Manisha in person and fascinating and eye-opening to hear about her struggles with an eating disorder after the birth of her daughter. Hoping we can get hold of one of the pictures that Joe took of the three of us together … one for the fridge!!!

That’s all I’ll tell you about the issue though! You’ll need to get out and buy your copy instore (or the e-mag for your iPad/tablet) ASAP! :)
