What adventures will the weekend bring?

For a change, we have NO plans this weekend … obviously I now want to FIND something to do!!! :)

There are SO many markets that happen over the weekends in Jo’burg, which is a fantastic way to get out with your family – staying away from the malls that us Jozi peeps seem to love so much.

There’s the unofficial hipster gatherings at the Neighbourgoods Market every Saturday.

Market on Main is open every Sunday at Arts on Main from 10am – 3pm, and the first Thursday night of each month (besides January and April) from 7pm – 11pm.

This is where my fabulous friend Meg sells her delectable Counter Love yumminess! Her condensed milk cookies and KILLER brownies (and gourmet sandwiches and burgers) are TO. DIE. FOR. Just saying :)

The Jozi Food Market happens every Saturday at Pirates Sports Club, where the focus is on “offering the best fresh food to customers – and the aim is to get people to support LOCAL small businesses as an alternative to the canned, preservative filled produce on supermarket shelves.

Its a healthy and fun way to shop as well – its outdoors, customers can relax with a coffee/drink under trees, and there’s plenty of space for kids and dogs to play.”

There’s the Irene Market out in Pretoria, which is held on the second and last Saturday of every month.

This market is famous for its “rustic, ‘old-world’ setting on the slopes of Smuts Hill, just a stone’s throw from the village of Irene on the banks of the Hennops River. Indeed, it is surrounded by vast indigenous grasslands through which meanders Smuts’ Nature Trail and where grow the likes of Aselepiadaccae and Crassulaecae, ancient perennials sprouting from underground tubers and bulbs.”

Then, just the other day, Melville Market followed me on Twitter. I had a look at their Facebook page and immediately decided to add them to our weekend “to-do” list. I love new things … new endeavours, new ideas. Very fitting for Spring, don’t ya think? :)

The bit that really got my attention? “Fully staffed children’s play area so Mom and Dad can relax …”

YES PLEASE!!!
