B.W.A.B.

Growing up, my sister and I LOVED books … and I know where the love of reading came from. Our Mom had established “BWAB-time” (Bed With A Book) from as early as I can remember. At 7pm, she would say “Okay girls, it’s BWAB-time, and we’d happily hop into our bunk beds to spend an hour before bed reading our favourites …

Years later, I still love books. So when Luca started expressing an interest in reading books before bedtime, I leapt at the opportunity to start reading to him! BWAB time in our house is awesome, and as much as I hate to wish time away, I look forward to snuggling in bed with both Luca and Mika, reading them their bedtime stories!

His bookshelf includes these, amongst MANY others!

In case it’s not clear-as-day-obvious, we’re MASSIVE Julia Donaldson fans!

We also LOVE Dr Seuss, Richard Scarry and Thomas the Train … but if I have to read the words “You have cause confusion and delay!” one more time …

If you’re looking for books for your little one at really great prices (because, trust me, shopping at Exclusive Books can become an extremely expensive habit!), get hold of Melinda (mom, wife, blogger, PR wiz and now also registered Kiddlewinks agent), for fantastic books at even better prices :)

What books are you reading to your toddler at the moment and what’s yourtheir favourite?

  1. Enid Blyton is my all-time favourite! I have been colelcting the Famous Five series and other books for years now. Now I can share it with my DD too!

  2. We also love books (and also have just about every Julia Donaldson book ever published!) I have even purchased some of the audio books of her stories (on audible.com) which Alex LOVES to listen to on the way to school. I’ll admit, they are driving me nuts … luckily the trip to school is only ten minutes!

  3. No way! Chocolate Mousse for Greedy Goose is Trav’s favourite bedtime book. I didn’t even notice it was by Julia Donaldson. I must get my hands on more for the boys. Oh, Melinda…

    • Luca’s teacher read it to them one day at school – he came home that day shouting ‘CHOCOLATE MOUSSE FOR THE DREEDY DOOSE!” so I *had* to go out and get it for him IMMEDIATELY! Get “Hippo Wears a Hat” too :) x

  4. Ann of Green Gable, The Famous Five and The Faraway Tree bring back so many memories from my childhood. I lost myself in those books, over and over again. I just read the Faraway Tree to Ethan and I’m keeping it packed away so I can read it to Zoe one day. My love for reading began with Enid Blyton books and you know how you are with your first love? They’ll always hold a special place in your heart. Always :)

  5. I signed up with the Disney Book club when my daughter was about 3 months old – I get 2 books every 4 weeks, and so far we have about 60 books. I don’t have any of the Julia Donaldson books, or Enid Blyton – gosh that brings back memories. I think I’m going to expand Aurora’s bookshelf to include some of these classics :)
