We depart on our Mauritian family holiday to the fabulous Sugar Beach in just over 2 months’ time and to say I’m anxious about being “beach-ready” is an understatement. Two kids later, my body isn’t what it used to be … but it doesn’t have to be that way.
I know that I CAN get (almost) back to my before-baby-body. I did it, 7 or 8 months after having Luca, almost 3 years ago. I committed to a very strict regime and lost the weight that I wanted to lose … it was tough, but I did it.
And I’m ready to do it again now. I’m running, but I need to do more … dragging my butt out of bed more often to hit the road before I get ready for work, getting to the gym at work to tone up at Pilates classes and doing circuit routines to tone up. But, as many weight-loss websites state, “weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise”.
Now, I don’t eat badly, by many standards and comparisons. I
think that I may skip meals too often, which results in bad food choices when I do eat something. So, when Yolande asked me if I’d chat about her 8 week “Summer is Here Weight Loss Challenge“, my only condition was that I also wanted to participate.
Yolande writes, about her weight loss experience:
After my second child was born in February I really struggled to lose the baby weight. After 3 months of breast feeding, walking a couple of kilometres 3 times a week and daily exercises, I couldn’t shift a single one of the 80.8 kg that I weighed at the time. After a shopping trip revealed that I was only comfortable in a size 42 pants, I really began to feel desperate. Before kids I had always been “skinny”, but after I had my first child my metabolism slowed down and I gradually picked up weight over the years. But this was enough. 16 weeks after having my baby girl, I came across a banner on Facebook advertising a Herbalife Weight Loss Challenge.
I joined the challenge on Facebook, received my Herbalife shake in the post a couple of days later and was thrilled when I lost 3kg in the first 2 weeks of the challenge. I started each day with my Herbalife breakfast shake, followed by a 10 o’clock snack, lunch shake, a late afternoon snack and a proper main meal for supper. It was what my body needed to lose weight – real food and good nutrition. I only drank water and cut out Coke, Fanta, juice and other fizzy drinks completely. I stuck to my daily calorie intake and made sure that my snacks included enough protein to keep me full.
6 weeks into the challenge I was the happiest I had ever been. I lost 5kg by week 6, I had so much energy and could keep up with my 2 very busy children. I didn’t have to have a late afternoon nap, and couldn’t believe that I had finally found something that worked for me.
I felt so passionate about the Herbalife brand, that I decided to sign up as an Independent Herbalife Distributor, to help others lose weight and gain self-confidence.
My life has changed completely thanks to Herbalife. To date, I have lost 10kg, I’ve dropped 3 dress sizes and I feel fantastic!
And Yolande’s progress in pictures (which speak louder than words!):
So, I’ve signed up and Yolande will be delivering my Herbalife “goodie bag” before the challenge starts this Friday. I’m excited to drop a little bit of weight, firm up, feel healthy and HAPPY about my body. If you’d like to sign up to do the online challenge with me, get hold of Yolande now and share your experience with me and other challengers in the Facebook support group. Make sure you let Yolande know that you got to her via One of the Boys!
Once I’m on track with my goals, I’m looking forward to finding a couple of gorgeous, vintage-inspired one-piece costumes like the these, because … the idea of bikini still scares the bejesus out of me!
Wish me luck and stay tuned for my progress
